Absfrucf-Satellite communication is distinguished by global coverage and the ability to support a wide range of applications. LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellite systems employing inter-satellite links offer rich connectiv-ity in space and provide direct broadband access and personal communication service. One of the technical challenges for LEO systems is the design of eMicient routing strategies tailored to their highly dynamic nature. In this paper, we present a new routing method which solves the routing problem effciently by overlaying a static logical topology over the physical constellation. The algorithm generates near-optimal shortest paths. The performance of our proposed scheme is evaluated through theoretical analysis and simulations.

DTN routing for quasi-deterministic networks with application to LEO constellations
We propose a novel DTN routing algorithm, called DQN, specifically designed for quasideterministic networks with an application to satellite constellations. We demonstrate that our proposal efficiently forwards the information over a satellite network derived from the Orbcomm topology while keeping a low replication overhead. We compare our algorithm against other wellknown DTN routing schemes ...
متن کاملVarious Routing Techniques for non-GEO Satellite Constellations
Two different routing algorithm categories are studied in this paper for a typical LEO satellite constellation. Shortest path algorithms and optimal routing. Their performance is investigated through extended real time simulations. In the context of satellite constellations the basic parameters for a typical network such as delay, throughput, link utilization must be supplemented by new factors...
متن کاملInternet Routing over LEO Satellite Constellations
Satellite constellations ooer interesting perspectives for Internet traac routing, since they beneet from a worldwide coverage and do not have the main drawback of geosynchronous satellites : propagation delay. However, because of their low altitude, LEO satellites are in constant motion and exhibit speciic issues for routing. This article presents a general architecture applicable to the integ...
متن کاملQoS Handover Management in LEO/MEO Satellite Systems
Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite networks are foreseen to complement terrestrial networks in future global mobile networks. Although space segment topology of a LEO network is characterized by periodic variations, connections of mobile stations (MS’s) to the satellite backbone network alter stochastically. As a result the quality of service delivered to users may degrade. Different procedures ha...
متن کاملCapacity dimensioning and routing for hybrid satellite and terrestrial networks
For future commercial broad-band data satellite networks, satellite network topology, link capacity, and routing have major impacts on the cost of the network and the amount of revenue the network can generate. In this thesis, we establish a mathematical framework, using two-stage stochastic programming, to assist network designers in selecting the most cost-effective network topology for data ...
